Hello my lovelies, I hope that you are all well and enjoy the upswing of Solstice energy. We are really into the summer months now, the time for planting, rejoicing and simply being.
Though I love producing witchy content, there are so many wonderful creators out there that I personally enjoy and learn from, so I thought I’d start doing a weekly (maybe?) highlight post of interesting things to read and welcoming places to visit.
Firstly I’ll highlight that I do have solstice posts from previous years to enjoy, I did a solstice meditation, and and original solstice audio story for you to relax and enjoy. I also wrote about how I experience the solstice here.
For starters, I will always recommend a visit to the Glastonbury Goddess Temple, their newsletter is packed full of witchy info as well as being gentle and encouraging. I also wrote about visiting the temple when I was home with my Dad last year.
Starhawk has a lovely solstice post and meditation this week, she is always worth tuning in to and I hope this will inspire you to read more of her work. The Cauldron Chronicles also wrote a post exploring the meaning of the summer solstice (Litha) as well as some suggestions for ritual you might want to try. The Mystic Sisters Coven also has a ritual guide for the solstice, but all of these practices are helpful during this whole season.
Ayana from Root and Ritual has two posts about the meaning of the solstice here and she also has a lovely video up about making a ritual wreath. If there is one thing I know about witches, we love a craft, so if you can make the time for making and pausing I think this would be a lovely option.
On the not totally witchy but really witchy front it’s worth checking out Colleen’s summer foraging recipes, or if you are looking for more intellectual inspiration then head over to Nergiz at The Young Matriarch. I am always inspired, impressed and informed by her work. I’m also including Letters from a Witch, which I am just digging into myself but looks packed with fascinating info!
That seems enough for now! In the meantime, I hope you have a blessed midsummer, litha, solstice, father’s day or any other reason you celebrate this moment. I would also remind that even though astrologically it may be only a 3 day period, the solstice also represents a season of energy that will be with us for a little while to come. Use your intuition to tell you if a practice feels right to you, I don’t think witches should be ruled by the calendar.
Lastly I will share a video of the solstice sunrise at Stonehenge this year, a place that has marked this cosmic alignment for thousands of years, and will hopefully do so for many more.
Bright Litha Blessings to you all,
Emmalina xxx
